Great women’s fashion editorial from the early 1960’s. I love the clean lighting and simple composition of the large flowers and the models. It reminds me of the early fashion photographs by Irving Penn and Richard Avedon. I wish I knew who the photographer was.
Great old Christian Dior stockings ad. I love the illustration!
The early work of Richard Avedon has been getting a lot of attention lately because of the Avedon Fashion Photography 1944 – 2000 exhibit at The International Center of Photography. “Dovima and Elephants” is also being featured at The Metropolitan Museum of Art as part of the “Model as Muse” exhibit in the Costume Institute. Here are a few of my favorite early Avedon photographs.
