I’m a huge fan of Italian photographer Guido Mocafico. I especially like his still life photography that was inspired by Dutch Master paintings of the 17th Century. Take a look at Mr. Mocafico’s work below along with some of my favorite Dutch paintings that may have served as inspiration.

Photographs by Weegee

Mr. Weegee himself, here with two fans. Image: International Center of Photography
I love photographs by Weegee. Weegee was a photographer during the 1930’s – 1960’s. Weegee’s work would go on to inspire other photographers such as Diane Arbus. The name Weegee was given to him by a friend and derived from the popular game Ouija!. He was given this name because he would often show up at crime scenes to take photographs before the police would even arrive. Most people are familiar with Mr. Weegee’s crime scene photographs, but my favorites are of other subject matters. Check out some great ones below. I found these on Amber-Online.

La Jetee – 1962
February 15, 2009
La Jetee is a Frence black and white short science fiction film by Chris Marker from 1962. The film is constructed entirely of still images and tells a tale of love during a post nuclear war experiment in time travel. The short movie in it’s entirety below is dubbed in English; but it’s much better in Frence.

I’m a huge fan of art photographer Bryan Moore. His photographs are incredible and always remind of images by Henri Cartier-Bresson and Jacques Henri Lartigue. I found some amazing photographs on Bryan’s website from a recent trip he took to Cuba along with some of his newest personal work. Check them out below next to some of the images they remind me of.
