These amazing models of DDR communication towers were made in Germany. I’m obsessed with them. They look amazing in groups!

There was also some towers like those in the FRG, in Düsseldorf for exemple (if I’m not wrong).

I have a collection of approximately 30 towers and would like to learn more about why they were made. Do you know anything about their history?

Those towers are a typical East German bric a brac which had their place on one’s TV set. They can be found regularily on East German flea markets. I don’t think they have anything to do with architect’s models.
Really? I’m dying to find a few. I’ve seen a few in NYC but they are very expensive.

I have purchased several on eBay searching for German TV tower …
have also used the term “Fernsehturm” (german for the word tower) on ebay . . .
