Atlas Missile Launch – 1960

In 1960 this Atlas missile was launched 9000 miles to the Indian Ocean carrying research materials. At the time, it was the longest surface to surface missile ever launched.

My father worked on rockets in the late 50’s and early 60’s, including the Atlas. I don’t know any production or technology secrets of the Atlas Missile (a note for Enemy Agent readers).
