In 1960 this Atlas missile was launched 9000 miles to the Indian Ocean carrying research materials. At the time, it was the longest surface to surface missile ever launched.

September 19, 2009
This great gag toy is the original “Yakity-Yak Teeth” from the 1940’s. The teeth are mechanized and are wound up on the bottom. The teeth chatter and roll around. The original box is awesome!

Civil Rights Style
August 1, 2009
Lately I’ve been looking at a lot of old images from the civil rights movement of the 1950’s – 1960’s. I’m obsessed with how stylish everyone was. Below are some of my favorites.

A sartorial savvy Martin Luther King Jr. in this 1956 photograph with fellow civil rights leader Bayard Rustin. I love Dr. King's flecked blazer and skinny tie.

Nine students who were enrolled in Little Rock Central High School in 1957. I love the dresses and glasses on the ladies and the gentlemen look great in their white oxford.

Dr. King and Coretta Scott King dressed to the nines! Coretta Scott King's feather hat is incredible!

March in Alabama 1965 - The hats, suits, and ties are great!

Sammy Davis Jr. and Roy Wilkins at the 1963 march in Washington D.C.

Writer James Baldwin with Charlton Heston and Marlon Brando at the 1963 March. These Gents look amazing in their sack suits.

Bayard Rustin in a great skinny knit tie with amazing black rim specs

Malcolm X - 1964; great skinny tie and tie clip. I also love the horn rim frames

Sidney Poitier, Harry Belafonte, and Charlton Heston at the 1963 march looking great in sack suits and white oxford. The pocket squares are a great touch.

Amazing style! I just love the sack suits and hats.

Jackie Robinson at the 1963 March on Washington

I love that EVERYONE was in a suit and tie!

John Hope Franklin protesting in a suit and tie

John Fitzgerald Kennedy meeting with civil rights leaders at the White House - June 21'st 1963. More great sack suits!
The Sartorius Muscle, also know as “The Tailor’s Muscle” is the longest muscle in the human body. There are three hypotheses as to the genesis of the name “The Tailor’s Muscle”: One is that this name was chosen in reference to the cross-legged position in which tailors once sat. Another is that it refers to the location of the inferior portion of the muscle being the “inseam” or area of the inner thigh tailors commonly measure when fitting a pant. A third is that the muscle closely resembles a tailor’s ribbon. Thanks to my med-student friend Beth for introducing me to the bodies most “fashionable” muscle!

Frank McCourt (1930 – 2009)

Because I’ve never been in an Irish Pub in New York that didn’t have a picture of Mr. McCourt, here is a look back at some great vintage Guinness ads.

Annapolis is the town I grew up in. It’s also the sailing capital of the US. I love the Colonial houses and all of the sail boats. Check out some of the great things Annapolis has to offer below. I found these iamges on Flickr.

Sailboat in the harbor. This is pretty much an average scene in Annapolis, or "Naptown"

Colonial houses with the Capital Building in the background

Chick & Ruth's Delicatessen. I have some great memories here! They make amazing milk shakes!

Sail boat races

Great Colonial with the capital building

Great blue door with the historic landmark plaque

Great shot of Annapolis capital

Middleton's Tavern - My buddy used to bounce here and I had lots of good times with D-Burg.

Chesapeake Bay blue crabs. We used to catch these by the bucket in the creek behind my house

The Rams Head Taven - A lot of good times were spent here as well!
